Esta investigación surge por la necesidad de propiciar nuevos esquemas que ayuden a fomentar la innovación de gran impacto. En este sentido, se analiza el potencial de las Asociaciones Público Privadas (APP) para impulsar una diversidad de proyectos con fines de innovación caracterizados por contar con una perspectiva a largo plazo, facilitar esquemas de coinversión y distribuir los riesgos de manera eficiente entre los involucrados. Se trata de un instrumento novedoso que permite superar algunas limitaciones relacionadas a los programas de incentivos vigentes y apalancar de manera más efectiva el gasto privado en actividades de investigación científica, desarrollo tecnológico e innovación.
